My Personal Journey: The “why” and “how” of the group program
(Time to read: ~2 minutes)
It takes time to get really good at communicating peacefully and successfully.
I’ve fought that reality for over a decade. And some good things have come out of that fight.
Speeding Your Journey
Unlike when I taught NVC the traditional way, people learn very quickly what to do (and not to do) in conflict situations.
No need to go through the years of trial and error that I did – to figure out what works best. “Should I talk about needs here? Or offer empathy? Or…?”
They know what to do.
Challenges that Remain
But two challenges remain:
- Building skill in doing that – which takes repeated practice with useful feedback.
- Remembering to apply the new skills, when the old approaches are so automatic. This also takes repeated practice.
Last Year’s Experience
So last year I set up a weekly training and practice group that people could access from their home or office.
But most people had not learned my unique approach to NVC – so I spend most of the time on the calls teaching.
Even though what I wanted was for people to spend the whole time practicing those skills.
But you can’t practice what you don’t know and understand…
Preparing to Make it Better This Year
So last June, I distilled everything I teach into just over 6 hours of video, broken into 10 to 20 minute “chunks” (with one 35-minute video).
So you can get the “understanding” learning on your own time and schedule – and review it as often as you want.
So we can spend the time on the practice calls actually… well… practicing!
A wonderful group of people has been working with the videos since July, and the feedback has been very positive.
So now I’m ready to re-launch the practice group program the way I wanted to run it all along.
A Leap of Faith – Pricing
The other concern some participants had was the cost of the program – they didn’t feel they could afford it on an ongoing basis.
At the same time, I didn’t feel that I could afford to continue offering it for what I was receiving.
This year I’m taking a leap of faith.
Less Than 1/2 of Last Year’s Cost
The first 3 months of the program – when you’ll be getting all the conceptual training – cost less than 1/2 of last year’s cost.
And once you’ve gotten all the training, the ongoing cost is just 1/4 of what I charged last year.
For All These Benefits
Because we need to stay connected, practicing and supporting one another, in order to continue to experience these benefits:
- More peace and pleasure in all your relationships
- More ability to influence events and people
- So your needs are more and more fully met in all areas of your life.
What I Want for You
I want you to fully enjoy your life. It truly is a gift. And I want you to feel that every day.
I know what it is like to feel the opposite – that life is a burden, a drudgery. That no one understands or cares. That things are getting worse, not better.
Learning these skills has changed that for me. Today I do truly enjoy and experience the gift of life.
And I want you to have the key to both personal happiness and professional success – the ability to create connection and collaboration with others, even when it is difficult, even when there is conflict.
Don’t leave it to chance. Learn and master these essential skills now. The sooner you learn them, the better your life will be.
